What I believe being overlook here is that the real threat doesn't lie in passenger safety, but safety of communities surrounding railroads. Thousands of cars containing hazardous materials such as chlorine gas, nuclear waste, ethanol, etc. cross the country every night. Just today there was another train derailment that caused the evacuation of Mecca, CA due to the hydrochloric gas that was released.

With rails being so accessible to the public, these hazardous material carrying cars should be the real threat.

This is absolutely irresponsible. MSNBC should be ashamed and, I feel, fined or prosecuted for publishing this information. Why is it legal to publish information which the government has identified as sensitive? Why is this not considered some minor form of treason?

I'm not saying our government entities are perfect, far from it... but our society expressly creates government agencies to handle sensitive information precisely because its dissemination can be harmful. Don't you get it MSNBC??? if the report says FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY, so we don't want it out in the public. The PUBLIC does NOT want it out in the public. We elect officials to handle such data. (they may not do a great job, but that's a different problem, not solved by publishing sensitive data.)

In summary, even if the contained info is nothing new to terrorists, even if the government does a piss-poor job of protecting us, as some suggest, MSNBC and other new agencies do the public a grave disservice by publishing this data. I would like to see any new agency who violates a document security protocol (like OFFICIAL USE ONLY) held accountable, either punitively, if an applicable law exists (which it should), or economically via boycott.

So first of all, why is this even a classified report?!! I can speculate too. Second of all, yes it is indeed it is the right question to ask why is this showing up in NBC news? Probably because it was intentionally leaked by the government.

Third of all, 78% of all terrorist attacks in the world involve cars. ie, car-bombs. Security might be lax on trains, but how much security is there on the roads? Seriously!
