This past week Ch. 7 KTVB in Boise presented "debates" between the Democratic and Republican candidates for the House and the Senate. I, for one was dismayed that they chose to film the Republican candidates with Cherry Wood office settings, including the bookcases and desks but projected the Democratic candidates with harsh lighting and background. This before the Obama infomercials. As an NBC affiliate it does not seem to represent what I would suggest is a fairness doctrine which we feel those that deliver news and a platform of fairness when presenting a platform for presentation of your positions to the candidates of the respective parties and/or indapendents seeking support!

To be perfectly honest, I did not notice that the backdrop looked like the Oval Office. Now that I read the article and compared the pictures, I can say they have a lot in common. The question isn't whether or not it was deliberate, the question is, did the undecided voters watching feel comfortable with what they saw? Can they be at ease with Obama in the Oval Office?

Why the fuss? Does this really need to be debated? The aforementioned office/scene fit and flowed with the overall message Obama was trying to convey. I say congratulations to him for the campaign that he has run, including this piece. I watched it from the local campaign headquarters, surrounded by fellow supporters and folks who happened to have dropped in. There was a lot of emotion in that room, yet not one person mentioned anything about the desk, the office - we were simply moved by watching the person we collectively support and believe in. Yes, it's amazing, the similarities. How could anyone not see that. They both look like rooms, they both have desks (although not nearly the same size), they both have windows (although for some strange reason Obama's has more of them and the oval office's goes to about 4" from the floor, that is close to the 24" in Obama's office) and the credenza's are so similar like they say in the article (although the one in Obama's office is only at least 2' longer) and who ever puts pictures on a credenza? Please tell us all exactly what he has done to "prove himself"? While he certainly hasn't done anything to "prove" he has the life experience to be an effective president, he has "proven" that he is arrogant, elitist, audacious, dishonest, and has shown poor judgement. He has also shown a pattern of using questionable relationships with radicals and promoting radical philosophical beliefs until such time as those relationships and philosophies became a hinderence to his ascention. Only then did he denounce and try to distance himself from his radical relationships and beliefs.

The faux oval office set is no different from the majestic greek columns or his rock star style "world tour" or the personal presidential seal he had made or the fact his office chair on his private jet has "President" embossed on the back. It seems Obama suffers from delusions of grandure.

Obama reminds me of a pro wrestler. He gives great scripted speechs and he looks great in scripted events where everyone involved has a vested interest in maintaining the illusion of his greatness. Even if that means they personally have to take a dive.

Before you tell me McCain and/or Palin are just as bad. Let me say, I do not disagree. But I am curious to know just what exactly Obama has done in his life that has you so convinced that he is The One? We can discuss why McCain is not a good choice for president on a different thread.

I watched the Obama-merial and didn't even notice or think about the background of his office. Is this suppose to be one of them sub-conscious messages? I was thinking more of the people he showed living in Ohio, New Mexico, Missouri, Pennsylvania and how those are key states this election, then ending in Florida.

Isn't it more important, showing a retired couple, with the husband now working part time at Walmart being 72 years old, how his wife takes all of those meds and for those in the know, which Obama did not mention or I failed to hear it, the Medicare donut hole? Or, the teacher working two jobs, taking classes to keep up with her teaching abilities, being a mother, etc., rather then talking about Obama's 'faux' WH setting?

MSNBC needs to have their employees focus on real things, interview people having problems and what their hopes are with a new administration. Be fair, what Obama leaning people are hoping for and what McCain leaning people are hoping for.

Most people probably didn't notice it looked like the oval office. Obama was sending a subliminal message in his ad. Kind of like when he had his fake presidential seal, although this was not as apparent.

Your kidding.. so there is nothing else more important than where Obama filmed his ad? How sad is your job. Make something out of nothing. So what? This is investigative? The reality is, its politics, its prime time, so does this make him a bad candidate? I don't think people are going to decide if they are going to vote for him based on this investigative report because its really just "bull"... get back to the issues.. or is it that you have nothing else to do?

With this man everything is about perception.... If he can get the observer and or listener focused on the props, reality fades and the props become reality. For example, he talks a lot about us being "our brothers keeper" yet his own lives in utter poverty. Before the great deception, this would have been call hypocritical, now it will be overlooked because reality is secondary to the deception....

I think it is fantastic to have a candidate for President that speaks about improving the country with very specific things he would do to accomplish the changes. We have not seen much more than mud slinging and rhetoric in our elections in the past 20 years. Yes Obama's messages are slickly packaged and eloquently delivered, but they also contains very real content about the issues that we are facing today. John McCain has really missed the boat by ignoring the issues and continually trying to discredit Obama. Add to that the only 2 concrete things he has suggested in 20+ months of campaigning is that the US Government should buy everyone's mortgage, and that he would give a tax credit so that everyone can buy their own insurance. Both of these policies would be absolute disasters for the people of this country. I will not even get into the difference in judgment displayed by the respective choices for the VP slot...it shows us one man who will pick qualified people to supplement his weak areas and another who has lost touch with reality.

Lastly, I like the idea that my President is smarter than I am... something I have not thought about the occupants of that office in a long, long time.

The fake office is a set and Obama thinks he's in a movie. He is a tremendous actor! Actor not a leader. When you have Hollywood people directing your every move what do you expect. It is frightening that people think the best actor will make the best president! Voters need to understand what the job requirements are for President vs. winning an academy award. I think a lot of democrats are paranoid.

This was not an attack piece.

It did not call Obama names, or suggest that he is a bad person or question who he hangs out with.

It did not suggest that he did anything bad by filming in a pseudo-Oval Office. In fact, it had mostly praise for his doing it that way.

Why do people have to see this as an attack of some kind. And why do people say, why do you cover this when their is so much more important stuff to cover. It's not like the other important stuff isn't being covered. And if this wasn't important then you wouldn't be here reading this or taking the time to comment.

If, by some unfortunate set of circumstances, Obama should become president, are you defenders going to attack every news report about him, no matter how trivial or mundane?
