Sheehan is right in my opion. "They don't wait. They attack when they're ready,". September 11th had no special meaning when they attacked. They planned and plotted, trained and when they were ready they attacked. They wouldnt warn of a date they plan to attack, that would lower their chance of suscess.

Some people like to put out fake warnings, to joke around, pull the fire alarm at school for fun... but that is entirely diffrent from people who just like to watch the world burn.

Don't be surprised if it's some type of attack. Might not be major. A lot of people refused to look at the congressional hearings when Cynthia McKinney questioned Rumsfield about military missions during 9-11. Politicians/Govt will do anything to pass policy and or to get elected. U.S. citizens just don't know.

Too many years ago, the people in our government (probably mostly CIA) who should have known did not understand how much the Iranian citizens hated Shah, and because the US propped up his "throne," how much the Iranis hated the US, especially the folks in the Embassy.

The CIA actually sent a retired agent into the Embassy several days before everything blew up. When Shah reached the point where his death was imminent, the Embassy should have been evacuated.

The Iranis knew that the six "missing" US Embassy employees were hiding in the Canadian Embassy, but they had no quarrel with the Canadians and didn't choose to pick a fight there. (I was young and didn't work in DC or with lobbyists or lawyers. Despite being a kid with no government contacts, I knew in less than 72 hours that the six Americans were in the Canadian Embassy. I'm not foolish enough to think I was--or am--smarter than the Iranis who lived in the city where the uprising occurred.

It is a mistake to assume that since the world is having a financial meltdown, the fringe elements in the Islamic world will decide now is not a good time to unleash their next major terror attack. They work on their own schedule, not ours.

I believe that Al-Qaida would prefer the election of John McCain because of his willingness to endlessly continue bush's endless war and the video of him singing bomb, bomb, bomb,Iran. These two things would make it so much easier for them to recruit foot soldiers for their wicked cause. And as far as intelligence of another attack, have the FBI and such gotten that much better since missing all of those clues leading up to 9-11?

It's ignorant to think world events, including the doings of Al Quaida, have no influence on voters in the US. A person's perceptions shape their opinions which in turn are manifested at the polls. I believe Al Quaida would rather see BO in the Whitehouse than McCain. And it looks like they'll get their wish.

The likelihood of a terrorist attack is kind of like hurricanes - sometimes there's an indication in advance; sometimes there's not very much advance notice.

Which suggests that, if you live in a low-lying hurricane-prone location, it's not a bad idea to lay in a week's worth of supplies and keep your Weather Alert radio cranked up.

But no need to get leaky armpits either.

I agree that they will attack when they are ready and not before. However, I feel they will wait if it is politically expedient if they are ready and they do not feel the op is in jeopardy. They hate us all, but Obama is the preference of the muslim world. An attack would swing many voters to the McCain camp as he is recognized in polls as the stronger of the two on national security. Have no doubt, the terrorists are dialed into our political process in a big way.

Rather than attempting to look into the counter-terrorist crystal ball to predict the next attack, we need to avoid the recurrent military mistakes, killing innocents, and helping to recruit the next wave of jihadis.
