Even though earmarks are a way it seems to pass bills, the positive impact in the publics eye of not adding earmarks to this particular bill could have been great. It seems that those involved were not concerned enough with finding a solution on a whole. Plus, the earmarks in essence are increasing government spending which is not what this bill is about!

Critics say bailout bill is stuffed with billions in pork

As John McCain promised: are we going to know who put this pork into the bill - I want to see them made famous.

Critics say bailout bill is stuffed with billions in pork

I am outraged that the bailout bill contained so much outlandish pork. The practice of pork barrel politics has got to be stopped. It is a form of congressional extortion used to advance legislation. Business as usual for the bums in Congress...take care of special interest groups, lobbyists and the wealthy. Spending money you do not have does not wash!
____ It fails to allocate $1 toward paying off the National Debt for every $1 spent on the topic of legislation.
____ It contains earmarks.
____ The length of the bill exceeds 20 pages, so most of you probably didn't read it before voting for it..
____ It contains fancy language or legaleze that would confuse a 8th grader.
____ It contains corporate welfare.
____ It contains sole source contracts.
____ It was written by lobbyists.
____ It benefits certain businesses in an industry at the expense of others in that industry or the public.
____ It modifies a word or phrase in a previous law. If you want to modify a law, you must review it's effects to date, abolish it and pass a new law as a replacement for it.
____ It increases taxes
____ It increases the size and scope of the federal government.
____ It perpetrates extortion on the state governments. Examples would be withholding funds if certain (generally unfunded) mandates are not adopted.
____ It encourages or extends dependence by state governments on the federal government.
____ The title of the bill is diametrically opposite or deceptive to the actual effect the legislation will have. The classic example would be the “Patriot Act”(sic).
____ The author, sponsor or co-sponsors have previously held a executive position(s) in an industry the legislation effects.
____ Over 2% of your constituents have contacted your offices objecting to the bill – on average.
____ You have failed to review and abolish two obsolete laws in order to make room for a new law.
____ You failed to review and abolish the laws the people found most objectionable, as determined by petition in order to make room for this new law.
____ It spends a penny of the so called “surplus” of the “deficit” - that is money left over from collecting taxes that is not paid out as interest on the national debt. I expect your usual tactics of changing the language to call this “deficit” to something else – whatever you call it – the rules apply! - NO MORE GAMES! This is not an excuse for a spending orgy – like in past years. You will live within your budget and a return here is not an excuse for a spending orgy.
____ Other (explain) _______________________________________________________________

As an aside, I can not tell you how delighted I am that due to the poor votes by roughly half of The House on the recent so called “bailout” that was opposed by 80% of the public – many of you will be getting pink slips come November. A country run by waitresses, cops and small business owners has a much better chance of recovering than one run by lawyers and multi-millionaires/billionaires, and former corporate CEO's. You are the people that created these problems and we would be much better off without you. When considering your previous votes on things like the Patriot act, the Iraq war, The Military Commissions Act and the FISA laws – hopefully most of you will get FIRED!

Thank you,

The United States President

Critics say bailout bill is stuffed with billions in pork

The mental health and susbstance abuse parity amendment to the bailout is a miracle. If the Republicans were loading it up with pork, then the AP, CNN, and the New York times would be screaming their names out, and every Saint Obama representative would be shouting it out everywhere. But when the Democrats do it, the same media want to appear as though they care and so they say,"Oh, look at the pork" and then don't name names. If you look at the top ten, two were republicans and the rest democrats, and one of the Republicans was asked to leave the party but didn't, Larry (I have a wide stance) Craig. So if you want to know who won the debates the press is silent if a republican won, and if a democrat is at fault on an issue, you'll hardly hear a peep. They do this so the Democrats will have time to spin so that they look saintly. Just like Pelosi did on the first time bailout vote. Clinton put CRA in 1999, Democrats voted against the regulation in 2004 and 2005, and Dodd and Frank were in charge of the oversight committee for at least two years, and at least long enough for Dodd and Obama to rake in the highest amount of contributions from Fannie and Freddie (directly, not through a lobbyist). If you don't believe me, look up the films and archived text at who really blocked Fannie and Freddie regulation. Hint: One of them was Barny (I was watching freddie's fanny) Frank. Good luck, and if the average liberal has about a 99% increase in IQ, that will bring them to low double digits but enough for Saint Obama to be in real trouble because his base will really know who to vote for, and it won't be him. But based upon what I see and hear, there's no immediate danger of that. Single-digit IQs appear to be here for some time, and it could mean taxes up the ying yang and so much worse.

Critics say bailout bill is stuffed with billions in pork

It appears that more democrats pushed for pork-shame on them. I will vote for McCain/Palin.
