Just another plot to raise the price of oil. I'd been living in Dubai for 4 years now and I'd never been in a more peaceful and prosperous place compared to Dubai.

So just keep your scare tactics in your own country and leave us alone.

How likely is it that something will happen? all well and good putting the UAE on high alert but with no info. people deserve to know a little more, ie were the threat came from? possible targets? what measures should be taken? great tell people to be aware, But how will that help anyone just walking down the street or doing shopping?

I agree with Marc. It is all and good to yell that we should be concerned, but some information would be helpful. It is not good enough that 'some officials' are aware and that is good enough. Ommission is a lie and by ommitting information that could potentially save peoples' lives, the people ommitting it are as responsible if anything does occur.

Well if the level of terrorisim is the highest that could possibly be given to a country then surely by definition the place is unsafe to travel to. So why is the foreign office pussy footing around and just advise uk citizens not to travel to UAE unless you really have to, If anything happens while you are there then the government is to blame. Airlines and hotels will not refund or exchange destinations on your expensive travel and accommodation purchases unless this happens, so you are forced to go or lose thousands of pounds. Come on foreign office make a decision.

Hi, reading this has scared me a little, i am moving to dubai in eight days time. I cannot understand why either U.K OR U.S officials are not giving any solid information? does anyone know anymore about this? is this so called political scare-mongering. please someone reply, so i can calm down!

I've traveled in and out of Dubai for several years now and have been safer there than in NYC, Detroit, Chicago, ect.... Not that I won't take the warning seriously. But I acctualy feel safer walking the streets of Dubai than in most American Citys of even a quarter the size.

Thank you US and UK governments for doing your job when it comes to security. It would be both irresponsible not to inform citizens about potential threats as it is irresponsible to reveal the sources of that information. If there were to be an attack which seems more likely as security is more difficult in the UAE to maintain, the UK/US officials would be blamed for NOT informing its people of the threat. Life will continue if there is an attack and it might wake people out of their slumber to assume that some locations are untouchable.
