I agree with John Doe from Washington. Our foes in Iraq use this tactic with road side bombs followed by automatic weapons and RPGs on those who come to help our soldiers. Why not send up 6 drones, light up the enemy with 3 and then keep the other three in orbit and take out the other terrorists that come to help their fellow terrorists.

Let's face it. Pakistan is a safe haven for terrorists and jihadists. If Musharif clamps down on them he's likely to be overthrown. Then we will have Al Queta in control of the Pakistani nukes. Nice thought. As much as I hate to say it, it's probably in the US best interests NOT to capture Bin Laden but to isolate him. The only other realistic solution is a full scale Iraq-style, US Invasion and occupation of Pakistan. Even if the Dems went along with the idea, we don't have the resources for Iraq, Afganistan and Pakistan at the same time. We'd likely need invoke a draft in the US just to supply the troop levels needed. Not likely.

I can see why the US is hated in the East. They "believe" a high value target was there. Meanwhile innocent people died with that person, for the thought that something might occur. We need more to the story - were there notes? bombs? threats? They say they do not forget their enemies. For what reason, then, were the ones who suddenly appeared to protect and dispose of the bodies, ones who could possibly cause more harm, not taken care of. They never forget and we never forget. Let's make sure we have the right people because hatred breeds more violence when innocent ones are killed. I do not want to be a casualty because of payback when I caused no part of the war.

I remember when I was a kid and asked my mom for something and didnt get it. I got upset because I didnt understand the realities involoved with the big picture.

its easy for some one in the states to say "kill'em all" or "Wait and kill the next group" but in reality waiting to kill the next group would cause civilian deaths and a great animosity with no effective results other than body count.

having said that. Afghanistan WAS neglected by the current administration. they were so eager to enter the war in iraq and get bogged down there that for years Afghanistan languished. there are almost 7 times more units in Iraq than in Afghanistan. untill recently the figure was more like 11 times more. had Iraq not happend we could have prosecuted this war infinatly more effectivly with only 1/3 of the forces opperating in iraq.
